you know how sometimes the universe is so ironically ridiculous that you just want to pull your hair out? and how sometimes the universe is so kind and ironic…in a good way?? that phenomenon was exactly how joann and dexter met. they both graduated from indiana state university and while joann swears she remembers seeing “that cute guy” numerous times on campus, it wasn’t until she ventured out to a party at a friend of a friend’s apartment that they met. but wait, it gets better. joann busted in the door (i use the term “busted” lightly, as joann is a 4’11” fireball) of the apartment…only to find “that cute guy”. on the couch. by himself. eating dinner. wrong apartment.

it was fate and joann + dexter have the universe to thank.

we shot all of these photos at blue heron winery, a place very special to both dexter and joann. not only do they spend a lot of time there as a couple, they were engaged there as well and enjoy taking joann’s parents for a visit when they’re in town.

when dexter was born, his parents bought several bottles of wine from a specific vineyard to hold onto for special life milestones: dex’s 21st birthday, his engagement and his wedding. (i got that right, didn’t it??) how cool is that?
