i do: suzy + lanz; big sur, ca wedding photographer

suzy (or, dr. suzy, i should say!) and lanz first met while spending their days with animals. first bonding over their shared love of dogs, their relationship settled into one of companionship, trust and true love. quite fitting for dog lovers, no? earlier this month, suzy and lanz said “i do”, following the sweetest poem about how falling in love is like a dog, in between close family/friends and one of the most beautiful views i’ve seen, at ragged point, ca.
i’m not just saying this because suzy is my cousin, but their day was one of my favorites. how can photographing an outdoor wedding in such a beautiful place NOT be?? even more beautiful than the views, is the amount of love shared between suzy, lanz and their family/friends. it was truly a special day, one i’m so thankful to have been a small part of. thanks again, s+l!

oh, how i wish all brides had hair/makeup come to them. oh and bring all this fabulous natural light with them.

all the florals, especially these head wreaths, made me swoon!

i loved this shared moment.

brides–if you’re going to wear a veil, you might as well WEAR A VEIL. suzy’s was doing such awesome dances with the wind!

suzy’s godfather married her and lanz and did such an amazing job. coming from someone who chose to have a close family friend marry me, it’s such a personal touch. below, he was relating marriage to an umbrella; you can’t have shelter and comfort without the support and foundation from below. coming from someone who holds umbrellas very close to the heart, his words struck a deep deep chord inside me.

how about that view, eh?

bringing in lanz’s dutch roots, they did a hand-binding ceremony. very cool tradition!

how about some reception details?

and the view out the back?

we had some extra time before dinner to take some photos as the sun was setting. only my favorite time of day.

Absolutely stunning…the bride (and groom), the setting, the light and the LOVE! Meghan, you did an amazing job capturing Suzy and Lanz’s pure JOY and LOVE. And I love the photos of Suzy and her dad.
