a few words to the wise

ok who got up and put their sunscreen on this morning?  what about your lips?  my daily skin regimen includes this and this, both of which i have been using for years. admittedly, i seldom think about my lips unless i’m planning to spend the day basking in the sun on a faraway beach.

my grandma, who i will now always refer to as frannie, got some unfortunate news yesterday.  she has a spot on her lower lip, which has been bugging her for a while, that turns out to be pre-cancerous cells.  if you know me at all, you know that the evil mister cancer monster has more than overstayed his welcome and my whole family is tired of it.  fortunately and hopefully, they caught frannie’s spot early and it should be treatable with a topical chemo therapy serum she applies directly to her lip.  eew.

so moral of the story is: if you are my friend, now you will not only be preached to about wearing sunscreen (yes, EVERYDAY), you will also be scolded for not protecting your lips.  i know i will because i quite like my lips and i plan to keep them for a while.
